Cookie Mix in a jar. An easy, economic, and beautiful gift to give for the holidays

HAPPY HOLIDAYS EVERYONE! So...are you ready for the big day? If you're anything like me, you're nowhere even near ready! This is a tough year for all of us, and I know I'm trying to come up with nice gifts that are economical! And as fast as the holiday is coming up, I need them to be quick as well! So that's what I'm here to show you today! I'm going to show you how to do this cookie mix in a jar. They're yummy, they're SOOOO easy to put together, and they're economical for a gift.

What you're going to need for one jar:
Quart size wide mouth canning jar
2/3 cup sweetened dried cranberries
1/2 cup chopped pecans, toasted and cooled completely*
1/2 cup dark brown sugar
1 cup biscuit and baking mix
1/2 cup light brown sugar
1 cup biscuit and baking mix

* to toast your pecans, place nuts in a single layer on a baking sheet. Bake at 350 deg for approximately 10 minutes or until nuts are golden brown. Watch them closely and I recommend a light colored cookie sheet, not a dark one. They can turn on you really quickly!

Wash and dry your canning jar thoroughly. Layer the ingredients in the order given into your jar. Pack each layer into place before adding the next ingredient.

After you do that, then the FUN part comes! Getting to decorate your jar! For this one, I used the following:
Cricut Expression machine
Mini monograms cartridge to cut the scalloped circle
Christmas Cheer - stocking
Cuttlebug Machine
Sizzix Sizzlet die set - snowflake
chalk ink
Basic Grey paper
ribbon
Stickles

I painted the metal ring that goes around the top with some white acrylic paint and then dipped my small paint brush in the red paint and polka dotted it cause I wanted it to tie in with my polka dotted ribbon. You could just as easily cut out a nine inch circle of cute holiday fabric and drape it over the top, holding it in place with a pretty ribbon.
Cut stocking from Christmas Cheer cartridge out of desired paper at 3 1/2".
Cut shadow for stocking
Cut a 5" circle out of matching paper to cover top sealing ring.
I wanted to put the ingredients on the top as well, so I also cut a 4" ring in white cardstock, printed the required ingredients on it, then glued it to the 5" circle.
Cut tag from mini monograms out of desired cardstock. Cut an additional circle for the back of the stocking tag. This will contain our directions for the recipient to make the cookies.
I applied liquid applique to the white parts of the stocking and then applied my heat gun to it for dimension.
Tie a bow from desired decorative ribbon (wire edged works best!) and attach tag to the ribbon.
Attach the ribbon to the top area of jar with glue dots
This shows you the ingredients needed to make the cookies:
1 jar of Cranberry Crunch Cookie Mix
1/2 cup butter melted
1 egg
1 tsp vanilla

I put the directions on the back of the stocking tag.
Preheat the oven to 375 deg. In a medium bowl, cream the butter, egg, and vanilla. Add the Cranberry Pecan Crunch Cookie Mx and stir until well blended. Shape into 1- inch balls. Place on a greased baking sheet. Bake for 10 to 12 minutes or until cookies are alight golden brown. Transfer to wire racks to cool.

The shelf life on this jar is 3 months (because of the nuts), so be sure and let your recipient know this. And there you have it! A beautiful, economical, and EASY gift to give for the holidays! Hope you enjoy it, and may each and every one of you have a blessed holiday season with your friends and families!!
